Holidays are here, which means it’s time to pull out all the stops. A sequined cocktail dress that’s just a little too much during other times of the year? The winged eyeliner you’ve been practicing in the bathroom mirror? Metallic manicure? They’re all about to have their big moment. Your upcoming office parties, family gatherings and cocktail hours are sure be well-documented on social media—which means you have the perfect excuse to glam up. Enter: your trusted hair professionals from Scott J. Because a bad hair day is just one day, but Instagram is forever, we’re sharing a few of our favorite festive, chic party hair styles that’ll have you popping bottles in no time.
Sparkle and shine with hair accessories
Surrounded by a sea of tinsel, ornaments and twinkling holiday lights, you’ll fit right in when you layer on the glitz. Jeweled hairpieces were all over fall runways, making them a stylish way to transition your look from day to night. Simply slip off that blazer, slick on a vampy lipstick and pin your hair to the side with a sparkly barrette, and you’ll be holiday-party ready faster than you can say “pass the champagne.”
Low ponytails, made sleeker by the Cezanne smoothing treatment
A low ponytail, when done right, is simple yet striking. The problem is making sure they read more “sophisticated minimalist” than “just finished yoga”—and the solution is ensuring your hair is as sleek and frizz-free as possible. Unfortunately, dry winter air (and over-processing) can make that ideal hard to attain.
That’s where the Cezanne Keratin Smoothing Treatment comes it. This new, long-lasting way to smooth hair doesn’t involve dangerous chemicals like formaldehyde—instead, it harnesses Sericin (a protein produces by silkworms) to deliver satin-smooth results that last up to four months. And the three-day setting period that was required with other hair-smoothing treatments? A thing of the past. You can shower, swim or even color your hair immediately after getting Cezanne. This can even soothe frizz without compromising curls. (We know what you’re thinking. And no, it’s not too good to be true.)
Show off your neck and collarbones with an updo
For Audrey Hepburn-style elegance, nothing complements your favorite LBD like an updo. If you’re a ninja with bobby pins and hairspray, this will be a cinch.
For the pictured look, section off second-day hair (squeaky clean hair lacks the necessary grip—just add a touch of Aveda Shampure Dry Shampoo if washed too recently) and curl with a curling wand. Spray and tease a section at the crown for added height, then smooth the top with a brush. Section off the hair in front of the ears, and pull the hair at the back of the head into a medium-high ponytail. Coil the hair in the ponytail and pin into a loose bun. Next, take the pieces closer to the face, pull them back and coil them into pin curls on and around the bun, securing with bobby pins. Let a few tendrils escape for a romantic look.
And if self-styling isn’t your cup of tea, well, we know a few people who can help with that—wink, wink. Just don’t wait too long to book. The holidays are a super busy time for us, too!
VoMor extensions add luxury and length
If you thought impossibly thick, lustrous and natural-looking hair extensions were for A-listers only, think again. Our VoMor extensions are reusable, all-natural, come in lengths or 12 or 16 inches, and are an easy way to add volume (as pictured), length or even a statement color to your hair. Best of all? Unlike many hair extension brands, they’re comfortable: no hard beads or itchy braids are required for installation. Instead, VoMor extensions consist of Remy hair applied via thin strips of tape. T hey’re painless, don’t damage your existing hair and take only 20 minutes to apply. So if you’re looking to ramp up your everyday ’do and make people think, “She looks like she’s had something done…but what?”—then look no further.
Statement braids
Not sure if you want to wear your hair up or down? Strike a beautiful compromise with a side braid. Simply make a deep side part, sweep hair to one side of the head—the better to show off your neckline and earrings—and loosely braid. Once the hair is secured with a clear elastic, pull on the pieces, loosening the braid, to give the appearance of volume and prevent it from looking too “done.” If you’d rather have your mane flowing free, but still like the interest a braid adds, stick to plaiting a few small sections by the face.
We hope these suggestions inspired you to have fun and experiment with your holiday look. And if you could use an extra set of hands, remember, we’re only a phone call away. Happy holidays, and see you soon!
