Beachy hair has practically become iconic. From cutting-edge trendsetters like Rihanna to classic beauties like Jennifer Aniston, it’s hard to find a stylish girl who hasn’t flawlessly rocked wavy locks recently. So there’s no denying the natural, beachy wave look has become a go-to hairstyle for the summer, but those tousled tresses transition into fall perfectly, too. While it might be less likely you’ve just left the sand and salty water, that lived-in look is the perfect blend of chic and effortless.
But while those loose, wavy locks might appear effortless, you probably know firsthand that creating them can be anything but. Fortunately, Aveda’s Texture Tonic is making the process much easier. Made from salt and cane sugar, this spray adds dreamy texture without the crunch. The salt gives hair that piece-y, defined look, while the certified organic sugarcane imparts hair with touchable texture and added shine.
Ahead, a few wavy, easily attainable looks we love —plus an easy-to-follow tutorial to help you master the lived-in look.
ADDED TEXTURE
A little bit of added texture and body looks great on any length. Our favorite thing about this look: it’s seriously easy to achieve and is great for freshly washed locks or trying to extend time between shampoos. Just spritz Texture Tonic on damp or dry hair, scrunch, and go. (Need dry hair in a hurry? Add a diffuser to your dryer to minimize the frizz factor.) Seriously—it’s that simple.
LOOSE WAVES
This fresh-off-the-beach look is one of our enduring favorites: loose waves are versatile and frame the face beautifully. Pro tip: If you want a wavier look, divide your damp hair into sections, wrap the stands around your fingers (away from your face) to create a loop and wind the curl with your fingers down to your scalp. Slide a pin curl clip to hold your hair in place. Leave these pin curls in place until your hair dries. Then pull the clips out, run your fingers through your hair creating effortlessly loose waves.
