October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we’re partnering with the nonprofit organization HairToStay. This groundbreaking organization helps cancer patients afford scalp cooling, also known as cold capping.

Cold capping is a relatively new but proven treatment that helps prevent hair loss during chemotherapy. Since chemotherapy can cause hair to become thin, brittle, and fall out, one benefit of cold capping is that it helps reduce hair follicle damage—the cooling caps keep the head temperature down, preserving hair follicles.

Plus, patients have expressed that they feel more motivated, positive and generally like themselves after receiving cold capping therapy. Kristin, a HairToStay recipient, shares how keeping her hair through cancer treatments has impacted her: “I look in the mirror and I don’t see cancer. I still see me and I don’t look sick.”
