And while we aren’t ones to hate on things (seriously—these are a few of our favorite things), we also don’t want to forget about another important part of the holidays: giving back. FIRST—COMPASSION
Giving back to the community is always on our founder, Scott Buchanan’s mind: “It’s part of the human race to give back. It’s giving of yourself, your time and your talents. It’s growth. The more I encourage people to give back, the bigger it all gets.”
So, how do we give back? Since we are guest-focused in all we do, we try to find ways to support our guests. So when they tell us about a cause they love, we try to get involved. We also keep an eye out for ways to get involved with local causes that help our community members and neighbors directly.
SUPPORTING FAMILIES DEALING WITH CANCER
Unfortunately, we’ve probably all been touched by cancer in some way. We are always trying to find ways to make life easier for those dealing with such a tragedy. We recently sent some stylists to help out at the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund, providing blowouts for families dealing with childhood cancer.
For breast cancer awareness month in October, we provide pink hair extensions to our guests for $20 donations toward the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. We also sold handmade cake pops at our front desk for donations to the foundation.
SLAY THE RUNWAY 2
Recently, we were honored to be apart of Slay the Runway 2, a fashion show benefitting young men and women in foster care in our community. The event raised money for youth development programming, which includes tuition scholarships for college and vocational school, and resources to connect young people in foster care to workshops on budgeting, cooking, and more.
